Anyone can learn to play as long as you can physically hold the bass. I approach all styles be it finger, slap or tap if it makes a noise then we’ll explore it.
Students can learn from their own materials or I can provide something suitable.
I approach everything with a view to performing it to an audience, so stage etiquette is always taken into consideration. Any bit of equipment used in playing a bass is a musical instrument in its own right. I hope to include effects, amps, cables and straps into the lesson where possible; everything from what they do, to how to care for them, or even bodge a quick repair to get you through a gig.
I’m always looking for the next new thing and sometimes I find that the most interesting technique or style comes out of the individual who has no perception of how to play a bass “traditionally”. I’m interested in how you express your personality through music and am eager to work it in with the lesson plan.
